The incoming dean reports to the provost and will be an integral and vital part of MSU’s leadership team. They should serve as an effective advocate on behalf of the Broad College and act as its chief academic and administrative officer. The dean will be a champion of the college’s mission, advance and implement its strategic priorities, cultivate meaningful partnerships, generate resources in support of the college’s priorities, and manage the college’s operations. The dean manages an annual budget of $52.7 million and provides leadership to nearly 90 Opportunities and Expectations for Leadership
tenured faculty, 164 non-tenured faculty, and 140 administrators and staff. In addition, the dean of the Broad College of Business will be expected to:

The next dean should be committed to listening and learning about the history, context, and culture of the college and skilled at building an environment of inclusiveness, diversity, and respect. The next dean should also bring an understanding of top-tier business schools and the evolving higher education landscape. The dean will be expected to leverage MSU’s strengths, explore new opportunities that advance the college, and inspire others through authenticity and relationships. This individual should demonstrate an ability to oversee an increasingly complex college and empower others. Ensure an excellent student experience. Consistent with the recommendations of AACSB, the college’s accrediting body, the Broad College collects comprehensive and rigorous student success metrics that demonstrate faculty and staff’s commitment to excellence in business education. The college boasts a 98% graduation rate within six years and a 98% placement rate. The Broad College is also the most sought-after college at MSU. More than 20% of the incoming students plan to join the Broad College. As this level of interest continues to grow, the next dean will be expected to ensure that the college has sufficient resources so that student experiences and outcomes remain strong. This individual should be committed to student success, comfortable in engaging with students, and have a visible presence around the college. The dean must have a demonstrated commitment to ensuring a welcoming environment that creates a sense of belonging for students from all backgrounds and life experiences, including traditionally underrepresented groups.
