Employee Culture & Climate Survey 2024

except for administrave support. This disparity was parcularly evident in the areas of teaching, research, scholarship, and creavity. Another area requiring improvement is engagement in community service, which had the lowest parcipaon rates among the seven acvies. One potenal reason for this low engagement could be the perceived lack of value that departments and units assign to community service. Only 53.8% of employees involved in community service agreed, to some extent, that their departments or units valued these contribuons. On a posive note, a high percentage of employees (between 72.5% and 81.1%) felt valued by their departments for their contribuons in teaching (mean score 4.01), campus service (3.90), mentoring/supporng students (3.86), mentoring/supporng faculty (4.00), and administrave contribuons (4.13). Although these mean scores were relavely high in 2024, there was a decline in the perceived value between 2022 and 2024 in five of the service areas. Another concerning finding is that only 63.3% of those engaged in research, scholarship, and/or creavity (mean score 3.55) felt that their efforts were valued by their department or unit. This percepon might contribute to the observed 10.8% decrease in employee engagement in this area between 2022 and 2024, along with a drop of 0.46 in the mean scores between 2022 and 2024. The most significant area for improvement within the college is addressing fairness and equity in departments and units. The six items measuring different aspects of fairness and equity received overall agreement levels ranging from 41.8% to 56.6%. The low levels of agreement concerning fairness and equitable expectaons regarding research (41.8%) and service (51.2%) may also be contribung factors to the reduced levels of parcipaon in these areas. While overall agreement levels were low for both fair and equitable processes related to compensaon and rewards for work performance, this is a domain where departments and units have limited flexibility to address these issues. Between 2022 and 2024, mean scores remained relavely consistent across all items which indicate on-going challenges in this area.
