Types of Bias/Discriminaon Experienced

Table 8.1 shows how oen, if at all, employees have experienced specific types or incidents of bias/discriminaon at the Broad College in the past year. The most frequently forms of bias/discriminaon experienced by employees were based on age (22.7%), sex (19.9%), and race/ethnicity (9.9%). The least experienced forms of discriminaon were based on veteran status (0.6%), religion (3.1%), and height or weight (4.3%). Seventy-five percent (75.0%) or more of bias/discriminaon experienced based on ability or disability status, veteran status, relaonship status, age, polical orientaon, social class, and mental health status was experienced by employees no more than 1 to 2 mes. Discriminaon based on gender identy or gender expression appears to be more likely ongoing, with 46.7% of those experiencing this form of bias/discriminaon reporng it occurred 3 or more mes. This may also be true for employees experiencing bias/discriminaon based on sex, race-ethnicity, and sexual orientaon.
